04/12/2017: Paris International Agricultural Show 2018 a magnet for 30,000 professional visitors

Among the 630,000 visitors expected at the Paris International Agricultural Show next year, nearly 30,000 are set to be professionals from the farming and agri-food sectors: farm managers, livestock farmers, restaurant owners, buyers and other decision-makers

The trade show, to be held in the French capital from 24 February to 4 March 2018, will offer improved content and services to both visitors and exhibitors, strengthening its unique appeal further.

“In addition to its educational vocation to the general public, the Paris International Agricultural Show is also a professional gathering. Each year, it attracts nearly 30,000 professionals from the agricultural sector, who meet and hold discussions to strengthen their commercial relationships,” explains Jean-Luc Poulain, himself a farmer, and the Chairman of the Paris International Agricultural Show.

Professional visitors travel to Paris for several reasons. Firstly, many livestock farmers, who are also industry buyers, come to the trade show to get the latest news about the sector and to do business around animal genetics. The exhibition on the livestock-breeding sector, centred on the Concours Général Agricole des Animaux (the General Agriculture Contest for Livestock), makes the trade fair the only gathering in France where the vast majority of breeds of livestock animals are present. Sector professionals seek animals whose performance will ensure that their herds are productive.

Secondly, the Paris International Agricultural Show, as a platform for the promotion of the farming profession, is a premier venue for forums and for sharing experiences. Farmers, particularly those who hold responsible positions within professional organisations, come to discuss the issues facing the profession, whether it is among themselves, with the general public or with the media.

Another high point is the AGRI 4.0 area, which welcomes professionals keen to discover the new technologies available in farming and to find out about the services offered by start-ups. This year, to respond to this growing demand, the Paris International Agricultural Show is increasing significantly the exhibition floor space devoted to these aspects — from 300 m² to 500 m² — and the number of exhibitors who will be present at AGRI 4.0.

Progress in the use of digital technology will be highlighted, with a focus on the diverse range of digital products available for agriculture. Among others, key players in participatory finance, software publishing and price-volatility management will be showcased.

“Today, with all our exhibitors, there is a professional component in each of the four pillars of the trade show, which consist of livestock farming; crop farming; agricultural professions and services; and the regions. On their stands, the exhibitors can meet their affiliates and customers, all of them from the farming industry, which is also what makes the Paris International Agricultural Show the greatest gathering of the agricultural world in France and in Europe,” explains Valérie Le Roy, Manager of the Paris International Agricultural Show.

For all these reasons, the trade show’s organisers have decided to enhance the facilities intended for professional visitors: that is why the Professionals' Village, in Hall 1, will be larger and will be welcoming new exhibitors.
