Argentina, because of its history and its potential, is a key country in the global provision of food.
  • Argentina's history and potential make it a key country in the global provision of food
  • It is the world's No 1 exporter of honey, lemon juice concentrate, peanut oil, soy oil and soy flour
  • It holds second place in the export of corn, sunflower oil, lemons and limes, pears, peanut-based products, unshelled peanuts, cooked beef, grape juice, sorghum, sunflower flours, yerba mate and peanut flours, and third place in the export of soy, garlic and apple juice concentrate
  • It stands out in important positions in the global ranking of supplier countries with a very wide variety of foods
This is the scenario currently accompanying the Argentine Milling Industry, an industry made up of countless, mostly family companies, some going back several centuries, that have been expanding alongside wheat production since the beginning of the last century.

These mills process wheat from all of the country's productive areas. Some are located in large urban areas; however, more than 80 percent are located in cities with fewer than 100,000 residents.

That is why Argentine mills, which create more than 30,000 direct jobs and around 200,000 indirect jobs, are the engines behind the economies of so many small towns in the country's interior.

On their behalf, Federación Argentina de la Industria Molinera invites you to participate in the XXXIII Annual Meeting of the Latin American Industrial Millers Association (ALIM) which will be held from November 15th-18th, 2015, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Sheraton Buenos Aires Hotel & Convention Centre was chosen as venue for the Meeting. It is the ideal place to host the wide variety of activities that will be included as part of the Meeting, and it is located in the heart of Buenos Aires, close to the financial district, main shopping areas, restaurants and important cultural centres.

This event will bring business people from the Latin American milling industry together with representatives from the industries and services associated with it around the world.

The Meeting will feature conferences, debate panels, technical presentations, a commercial exhibition, engaging social events and a companion plan that will allow visitors to enjoy all of the good things the City of Buenos Aires has to offer.
