Satake has received an order for rice milling and seed processing equipment from the Turkmenistan government via a local enterprise. It was shipped in March 2015, and is expected to be operational from July. It is the company's first order from the country.

Turkmenistan, a republic located in the southwest of central Asia, became independent from the former Soviet Union in 1991. The government has since concentrated on increasing the yield from grains and improving the efficiency of its rice milling industry. In this regard they have set about plans to build a new rice milling and seed processing infrastructure.

Optical sorter
This is the first order from Turkmenistan for Satake's equipment, there being no previous history of trading with the country.

The equipment supplied consists of approximately 30 machines including vertical rice whiteners, rice polishers and optical sorters for the rice milling plant. It also includes a further 6 machines including thickness graders and optical sorters for the seed processing plant.

The equipment was shipped in March 2015, and commissioning is expected to begin in July after completion of the plant building, located in Koneurgench, in the far north of the country, close to the border with Uzbekistan. With this order, Satake is considering a more aggressive approach to business in the region.
