An official announcement was made at the GLOBALG.A.P. TOUR 2013 in Belgium on 20 November 2013, which named the winners of the Good Agricultural Practice Award.

GLOBALG.A.P. initiated the G.A.P. Awards in 2012 to honor GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to implementing Good Agricultural Practice. The G.A.P. Awards are designed to give producers an opportunity to showcase the impact G.A.P. implementation has made on their production processes and facilities, their workers’ welfare, and their surrounding environment.

The four winners, selected from 23 applicants, were chosen by a jury of experts based on strictly defined selection criteria. As was the case last year, the high level of quality, diversity and commitment made it very difficult to select an overall winner.

The G.A.P. Awards 2013 winners are:
From Israel: Kibbutz Alumim
From India: Craigmore Plantations Private Limited
From Ecuador: Tankay (produtankay cia ltd)
From Argentina: Maniagro SA

"GLOBALG.A.P. is proud to have received so many good applications for our second edition of the G.A.P. Awards. I would like to thank all those who applied for their effort and dedication. Congratulations to the winners and an applause to all the applicants, whose profiles we have published throughout the year in our monthly newsletter and on our website," said Dr. Kristian Moeller, director GLOBALG.A.P.

All of this year’s applicants showed a great deal of commitment and an admirable sense of drive and determination. The stories they submitted illustrated the diverse challenges and innovative solutions in implementing Good Agricultural Practices through GLOBALG.A.P. Certification on their farms, at their production facilities, and in the management of their businesses.

“The G.A.P. Awards represent a great opportunity to recognise farmers who are focused on meeting the highest standards in food quality. This year’s winners showcase the benefits of implementing the best technologies and production practices, such as integrated pest management, responsible use of crop protection products, investment in biotech cultivars, and a commitment to provide employees with the highest degree of social services,” said Rolando Zamora, stewardship manager, crop protection at CropLife International, Belgium.

All the winners will receive a ticket to the GLOBALG.A.P. summit 2014, including travel and accommodation costs for one person. They will be officially honored at a special ceremony together with the winners of the G.A.P. Awards 2014.
