Animal feed using seaweed could have an impact on the environment

Dr Michael Burrows a marine biologist and author of a report that claims there could be an impact on the environment if seaweed is used in animal feeds. Saying " that intensive harvesting of seaweed could have a serious impact on the ecology of the sea and protecting the environment must be paramount.

The report by Dr Burrows maps the intertidal seaweed resources of the Outer Hebrides which looks into the possibility of farming seaweed from the ocean but advices caution. Read more ...
